Global Configuration not saving

Hi everyone,

I have a issue on Joomla 2.5.6, when trying to save global configuration, no matter what tab is selected, the options are not saved.

I upgrade from joomla 1.5.23 to 1.7 with jupgrade, and after I made the automatic upgrade.

on extension manager, on database I have an error, that is not fixed that says "No default text filters found. ", I tried to fixed with the button fix but with no success.

Can anyone answer this post só I can fixe the issue, I have few sites to upgrade, but I can't go forward without any garantee of fixeing this, becouse without this I can't change the Text filters.

please check in public_html the file configuration.php permission is 644 or not.

you can download it and change by notpad and delete old and upload again.

1. Make sure the database has been updated to reflect the changes from the update(s)
   1. Go to the Extensions=>Extension Manager->Database tab
   2. CLICK the Fix button (top right toolbar).
2. Also , make sure that you clear the Joomla cache files.

Did you therefore run the Fix database and this was the output of that?

Some upgrades seem to switch this setting to "Default Black List" which strips out any styling, images etc, in both content and also in modules.

Check that other User levels are not affected by creating a new User and selecting appropriate Group Levels each time.

Hi, I also am experiencing Global Settings not being saved.
I followed the instructions and purged the cache etc and then the temp directory setting and the mail settings saved and the only the ftp settings did not.
This is doing a save and close then going back into the Global Settings page.

1. Extension Manager / Database / Fix
2. Site / Maintenance / Clear and Purge Caches and Global Check-in
3. Upload a php.ini file to the root directory

I'm here trying to solve the same problem. Have tried all the suggestions in this thread without success, but no harm done, either.

Adding the above to the .htaccess file, however, messed things up -- instead of loading the pages, user is prompted to save them.

At this point, global configuration changes still won't save. I get different error messages each time I try to install extensions, too -- which is a PITA since that's why I upgraded to 2.5.9 in the first place. :-D

For me it was the email adress in the "from email" field - Server tab.
I had something like "blabla@localhost", which is not a valid email adress, and joomla refused to save the settings because of it. After deleting, I could save again.

Check all the tabs in the settings area, and see if anything is surrounded by red borders (joomla is highlighting those as wrong values), correct them and try again.

I just freshly installed Joomla version 2.5.6 but after going to updates Joomla installed 2.5.9 immediately after which global configuration will not save or save and close changes. All permissions are writeable, I have made sure there are no database errors, cleared the cache, tried again but it says all is well...no more updates or fixes necessary according to system. I have verified the cache folder is empty on the server. Everything was fine before trying to update to the latest Joomla. Clearly there is a problem with it so until they fix it everyone should avoid updating to 2.5.9 If anyone has figured how to fix whatever updating breaks please let me know. I would hate to have to reinstall everything from scratch again to get back to the working version of Joomla. Thanks.

Hi, I'm having the same problem I have my website offline and now that I need it Online I cant save any changes in the global configuration.
Tried all options mentioned above but none work.
I'm running on Joomla! 2.5.9, anybody found a solution to this problem????

in the configuration.php line 3
public $offline = '1';
I changed it to this
public $offline = '0';
and the site now appears online

Now it only fixes my problem to put the site online.

I've included the configuration values in config.xml.After installing my component,i would go to my configuration page and clicked save.It has updated successfully in extension table's params field for my extension.But when i installing component the configuration values should be update in extension table.Can you please help to solve this ?

FINALLY! I just had the same problem with using localhost, XAMPP and Google Chrome. My solution: Open the Joomla Backend in Internet Explorer, saved global configuration there and it was reflected immediately. Hope this helps for you

For me it was also something as simple as an email address under server>mail settings not being properly filled out.

Same resolution as stiaamvm. I could not save while using the control panel in Chrome. Once I opened in Internet Explorer, I was able to save all configuration changes.
