Joomla 1.0 to 3.5 upgrade

Post by etreu » Thu Apr 28, 2016 11:59 am

Hi,
What are my best options and least time consuming to upgrade about 7 sites running with VirtueMart and JoomlaArt from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 3.5 ?
I understand the modules are obsolete, I wonder if there is a module that can handle this or not smoothly (wishful thinking, I know)
Any help or quick procedure will be appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you Strumjan,
Not exactly a smooth and simply upgrade but I really appreciate the response.

I co-wrote as Member of the Joomla Upgrade and Migration Team the https://docs.joomla.org/Planning_Migrat ... 1.0_to_1.5 which is taken from https://gws-desk.com/tips-and-tricks/gu ... -x-to-j3-x

This method is used by us in our commercial operations and works like a charm. Please note the limitations on the migration since you only can migrate
  • Articles
  • Users
As stated this is caused that the entire menu structure changes
That is all you will be able to migrate because once you go from 1.5 to 3.x it becomes chaos to migrate any more than that. The reason for this is that in Joomla 1.0 (and 1.5) there are both Sections and Categories and in Joomla 3.x (and 2.5) there are no Sections and only Categories and Nested Categories.
so your entire menu structure/navigation will change
