Joomla won't update

Joomla versions 2.5, 1.7 and 1.6 are all end-of-life since December 31st 2014 and are no longer supported. Please use Joomla 3.x instead.

Joomla won't update

Hi, I'm having trouble updating Joomla to version 2.5.7. My Joomla control panel tells me that I should update to this version, but when I try it gets stuck on the loading and the completion bar does not make any progress. Here's a picture.

Use the method in viewtopic.php?f=710&t=956702 but use the files from a fresh 2.5.7 to update (step #2, 5)
