Single user permissions for viewing articles

Post by hitchcock » Sat May 18, 2013 4:25 pm

I need to implement single user-based permissions. I would have a number of articles that I want to assign to specific users. For example, I'll have ArticleA that I want to make viewable for User1, User5 and user6 only (and no other user can see that article). It would be great to be able to assign users to an article with a check box in article edit view.

When User1 logs in, he should see a menu with a list of articles assigned to him (in this case - ArticleA).

Is it possible to do this without creating separate group for every user?
I'd appreciate your help in implementing this.

Best wishes!

If you were to assign each article to a user as its author, I know of a short addition of code to accomplish this. But I don't have a quick solution for you to assign any combination of individual users to have access. I do think what you are suggesting could be done, but it would require a fair amount of custom code.
