Just a simple explanation about the ACL?

I just upgraded a 1.5.26 Joomla! site to 2.5. I notice in Administration > Global Configuration > Permissions a whole bunch of permission settings that I'm not familiar with. I thought it was pretty obvious how to set these, but despite what I do I receive the following: "Could not save data. Error: You cannot remove your own Super Admin permissions." I've not gone anywhere near Super Admin permissions. I'm just trying to deny the public from doing anything but reading.

All I want to do is make sure that no one other than myself can do anything except read the pages. I have no registered users, no authors, no publishers, etc. Just public readers.

Can someone help me understand what I'm doing wrong?

OK. Got it. I found a super helpful and informative article here:

(I hope it's OK to post that link.)
