ACL not working as expected

Post by stephen_mmw » Sat Feb 01, 2014 4:37 pm

Hi,

I've setup a set of groups:
Events Moderator, Images Moderator, Profiles Moderator.

Created Moderator Menu with links to Articles, I've set the various articles to the groups, I've set the Menu items, to the same individual groups.

I set the Menu Module to be for registered group.

When changing user groups I am expecting the Menu item 'Events Moderator' to be displayed when this is selected in the user groups.

But I just cannot get it to work.. All registered users get all items listed from the menu. I have no orphaned items. I've been at this for several days now! Any suggestions? I'll quite happily give backend access if someone wants to help?

Thanks

Stephen

hello,

first, think of it like this:
User Groups determine what Users can _do_ - their permissions.
ACLs determine what Users can _see_.

sounds like you've got your group set up for their permissions on what users can _do_. now, you need to create Access Levels assigned to those User Groups to determine what they can _see_ (or is displayed as you put it).

i find this article helpful http://magazine.joomla.org/issues/issue ... ess-Levels.

hope this helps. :)
