Public and Registered User group issues

Post by gretela » Tue Feb 18, 2014 1:23 pm

Hi,

I am new to ACL, but thought I had the concept. Not so sure any more.

We created a site that has several new access levels and user groups.

We tested the site and made it live Friday.

On Monday we came in and the menu that should have been only viewable to one of the user groups was viewable to the world.

so I checked the user group, only the access levels that should have been checked were checked. Enhanced, Registered and Subscribers. I checked the menu module and the menu items to be sure nothing changed there. Nothing had.

If I remove Registered and Subscriber from the Access Level it shows to just the Enhanced. But the minute I turn either Registered or Subscriber or both it is Public again.

I am at my wits end. I've searched and could find no explanations and really, no one else having this issue. Not sure what to do.

I did notice that all of the user groups my team created are based on Registered. Should they have been based on Public? I thought I read that somewhere, but can not find where now.

any help would be extremely appreciated.

Options Button, User Manager->Components->Guest User Group

It's not set to Registered instead of Public?

By adding the groups as children of Registered, they will inherit the permissions from the Registered Group.
