How can I stopp Automatic User Logins

Post by sgower » Wed May 27, 2015 5:17 pm

It appears that I have a user who has set up some type of automatic login routine on their computer. I can disconnect them from the back end but within a minute their user is logged back in. It looks like this routine runs every minute logging the user in.

How can I detect this or more importantly how can I stop this.

I have contacted the user but he plays dumb...

My session time on my Joomla site as well as my Kunena forum are both set to 15 minutes. This particular user doesn't even make any posts...

If you go to the User Manager and select 'Options', you can change the settings for 'New User Account Activation'.

But if your website allows user registration then this will also be affected.

The user was already logged in via the regular site registration. Its just that his user was always logged in 24/78. From the back end I would log him out and within a minute every time his user would log back in. There has to be some type of automatic setting on his PC that auto logs him in every minute regardless of whether or not he is logged in already...

I am looking for a way to provide this theory...

Yes, hackers / spammers often use automated methods of accessing your website.

What I was saying is that, if you set the account activation to 'Admin' or just turn it off completely (as said, maybe not a possibility if you want your website to allow user registration), then you can delete the specific user account, which will provide some blockage in allowing them to access your website.
