All Joomla questions on this forum require a technical answer to some degree.

Re: joomla stackexchange site..
Well it really depends on how you would define technical. There are so many things on the forum that you can generally help with.
1. Joomla Admin Use & getting stuff done with Joomla doesnt need a lot of technical/technology knowledge.. If you say knowing how to use MS word is being technical , then yes Joomla admin & Management questions can be considered technical.
2. The second area where questions could be about what extensions to use etc.. again not high tech.. but will need you to have knowledge about extensions..
3. Real Tech - How to develop extensions, how to modify existing ones. template development etc.. Yes this will deff fall in the Technical side of things..

Many admin questions require knowledge of using phpMyAdimin or server configuration or knowledge of php to fix the problem ... how would the user know they require a technical answer when they don't know what the problem is ?coolparth wrote:...

Re: joomla stackexchange site..
@Webdongle i am not really clear what you are driving at . I guess i should have asked for a clarification first before answering in a general way Sorry about that..
My Perspective on this matter is that i agree that having a Stack Exhange dedicated Joomla area would help as it attracts a lot of talent & it will only help the Joomla Project.
Are you in agreement or Disagree ?

Re: joomla stackexchange site..
Who would use that "dedicated Joomla area" ... the Joomla devs who use Github ? or the 3rd party extension Dev's (many of which are Joomla devs) who also use Github ?coolparth wrote:...

How would moving the focus of help away from the forum, docs.joomla.org and the development on Github add to the Joomla project ?
There are a lot of questions about Joomla on stack and I can see how some may see that concentrating those to one area of stack would be beneficial ... but would it not be better to direct those questions to the existing official help and documentation ? That way all the help is synchronised in Joomla and not 'out sourced' to another project.

Re: joomla stackexchange site..
I understood that the marketing team were tasked with promoting official joomla projects and the brand. I dont see how the proposal (that has been posted in numerous places and lists over the last number of years) meets those requirements
