Contact email address in emails from the forum

Post by Webdongle » Sun Oct 24, 2021 10:15 am

Have just sent email via the forum with copy to myself. The copy came OK but with an anomaly.
If this message is spam,

noreply@joomla.org
Should that be a different email?

Yes, curious isn't it? "If you want to report this email, please write to an unmonitored email address."

We will look into it, but a live email address can never be used for this as there would be way too much spam for this which will render the email useless.

Kind regards

hmmmmmmmm is putting a non contactable email address to report spam breaking some rule somewhere?

How about wording asking them to log in to forum.joomla.org to change their settings to stop receiving emails from the forum?

I agree with @Webdongle that the existing wording within emails received from this forum are of small practical benefit. Why put a message in an email that, in effect, says if people have a problem with the email they should complain to no-one? However, as the issue has been raised, I will contribute my two-cents' worth.

I will be surprised if something comes of this discussion: previous discussions where community members have raised ideas often gone nowhere or take months to materialise by way of change for the better. Be that as it may, there is a general forum helpdesk/support contact form: https://community.joomla.org/helpdesk/f ... quest.html (I know what the title the form says but I'm quoting from what I have read on the forum. You will see from that earlier discussion that the "report spam" email address was changed between that time—in January 2018—and now.)

@ooffick said he will look in to it. He usually manages to sort thinks he looks in to. Have faith @sozzled.
