Post by moh1980 » Sat Dec 25, 2010 7:26 am

Hello all,

I just moved from .net to work with php and I am still student and I would now how joomla.org built them website?
anyway I fund all this domains:

http://joomla.org/ >>>>joomla
http://forum.joomla.org >>>>phpbb3
http://people.joomla.org/ >>>>
http://community.joomla.org/ >>>
.
.
.

could any expert explain the construction of the website for me?
why all this domains?
why don't they install phpbb in subdirectory in the same root directory of joomla and use bridge ?

Regards,
Moh

The reason for the domains is that the amount of traffic on the Joomla websites is too big for a single server configuration. Therefore there are multiple servers, and creating separate domains for the different subparts is the easiest thing to do. The forum itself isn't integrated, it's just having the same template as the rest.

This very much depends on the size of the forum and the number of people visiting. For most sites, it's easily possible to have a forum and Joomla on one server.
