Banned email?

Post by pslane » Sat Jan 06, 2018 3:05 pm

Why did I get an email from satnag29 that directed me to an Un-Ban-Request page?

In what context? Is this an issue with your site?

I have no idea. This is the email:

Hello pslane,

The following is an email sent to you by satnag29 via your account on "Joomla! Forum - community, help and support". If this message is spam, contains abusive or other comments you find offensive please contact the forum administrators at the following address:

<https://community.joomla.org/helpdesk/f ... quest.html>

Include this full email (particularly the headers). Please note that the reply address to this email has been set to that of satnag29.

Message sent to you follows
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
there may be some conflict in image upload.
and you are using old joomla version.
if you upgrade this problem will resolve.
It looks to come from this forum and not your site.
Mod. Note: Relocated the topic to the Sites & Infrastructure Feedback Forum.
if you read the email it says;
The following is an email sent to you by satnag29 via your account on "Joomla! Forum - community, help and support".
so the user clicked your email contact icon next to your profile on this forum.
If this message is spam, contains abusive or other comments you find offensive
if you find that the email was spam - eg unwanted contact (possibly with side view to promoting their paid for services. ) then
please contact the forum administrators at the following address:
<https://community.joomla.org/helpdesk/f ... quest.html>
which is now the "Forum Account Support Form" BUT they havent changed the original url or alias.
Thanks @mandville. To summarise: in order to make a complaint, to request that a "banned" account be un-banned, or to make a general comment/observation about the use (or possible abuse) of the forum, people can go to https://community.joomla.org/helpdesk/f ... quest.html
Even so, to remind people about acceptable forum conduct w.r.t. private messages and email, the rules are clear about personal messaging/email:
... unless expressly invited to do so. Using PM to actively solicit work is not allowed. Abuse of the PM system in this way can lead to your membership being removed.
;) Cheers :)
Hi
yes, the form has become a general contact form in addition to the old "why was i banned question"
you can now use it to report suspect users/abusers more anonymously where its not appropriate to do so on the forum. the details are listed on the mentioned page.
All in addition to the report button, but the report button has a wider response audience .
