Hmmm ... this is weird.
On one device, (using
Firefox or
Google Chrome), when I click either of the two links I referred to in my previous post, I get an error page (see the following screenshot):
secureConnectionFailed.png
However, from the same device (using
Opera,
Internet Explorer 11 or
Safari), the feed works! See below:

Ah, but that's not all: using a different PC with
Firefox, the feed page is displayed correctly. I'm wondering if the problem is that, on
one of my devices, the link in the announcement translates to
https://feeds.joomla.org/JoomlaSecurityNews because
that link doesn't work at all.
The difference seems to lie in the resolution of the URL target between http:// and https://
I still haven't figured out why (on my first device) I cannot access the feed with
Firefox because, every time I try to change the address to http://,
the browser ignores what I enter and substitutes https:// instead. I'm not going to worry about it anymore. If I want to see the security news feed, I'll use a different PC or I'll use one of my other browsers instead of my preferred one.
So, perhaps my report of a "broken link" was in error after all. FWIW.
