I was assured that the forum management team would look into this matter at some time after the release of J! 4.0 (which was over six months ago), viz.
I again ask, with respect, that the matters I referred to previously be reviewed please.
- Can we have the Board index reduced in size (length) so that the J! 1.5 and J! 2.5 sub-forums do not appear (in the same way as the J! 1.0 sub-forums are not listed)?
- Can remove from the Board index a couple of forums that are no longer used because there are other places where those issues are discussed, viz.
- Joomla Ideas: these discussions have, in effect, been relocated to GitHub
- Joomla Events: these things are now promoted at https://community.joomla.org/events.html
- Registered Joomla! User Groups: these matters are dealt with at https://community.joomla.org/user-groups.html
- Two forums, created ten years ago when J! 3.x was being developed, are no longer applicable in the current climate. They are:
- User eXperience (UX); and
- Joomla! 3.x Bug Reporting: bugs, defects, etc. whether they relate to J! 3.x or J! 4.x, are reported/discussed on the Issue Tracker
- The Joomla! 3.x Coding forum—currently listed under Joomla Development—is analagous to the Joomla! 4.x Coding forum that appears under the Joomla! 4.x - Ask Support Questions Here category. Why not move the J! 3.x one under the J! 3.x "support questions" area, similarly? This would save people some time locating those things.
- The Joomla! 4 Related forum is mysteriously located under Sites & Infrastructure - Feedback/Information. It located there because it is an "archived forum" but it doesn't really relate to "'mechanical' forum or Joomla! sites related issues". I have no objection to this being located as an archived area under the broader General Questions/New to Joomla! 4.x forum or, perhaps, the narrower Joomla! 4.x Coding and I will let the moderators decide if it might be more appropriate if it were relocated elsewhere.
I hope these suggestions will be taken on board and will result in a more enjoyable forum experience for everyone.
