the app store name sounds very bad to my ears, it gives me too much the idea of the bitten apple store, since I'm not a fan of the closed worlds of mr. "stefano lavori" or mr. "guglielmo cancelli" , but the idea is very good, i hope we can discuss on how to build an open world, where both open and closed world can live together to bring the best of the two models

We can not use name "AppStore" its property of Apple Inc. We should find a alternative name also.

My biggest frustration is with downloading of the extensions. Typically, you have to go to a 3rd party website to download the plugin, and many times they require registration to that website. Purchasing extensions is an issue, as doing the transactions and managing licenses through various websites is a hustle.

My take is that installation, purchases & license management should all be handled at http://extensions.joomla.org/ same as you would have on Apple App Store or Google Play Store. That way you have your invoices, licenses, future upgrades, references to what you downloaded, all in the same place.

Any thoughts on this?

Love the idea of integrating payments/licensing like Apple/Google's app stores.

AppStore makes me think mobile app.....

I like the idea of integrating an Extensions library into the Joomla admin, where admins can search for and install extensions without leaving their Joomla site. Similar to what WordPress and Magento currently have.

For commercial extensions, I don't know if I like the idea of making purchases through the "app store". Maybe take a tip from how Magento handles this: You purchase the license code from the developer's site, which you must use in order to install the extension on your site, via the onboard Magento Connect Manager. The license codes can be unique to limit the possibility of sharing bootlegging, etc..

App Store, Windows Store, and Google Play... all out! Got that done!

What are you trying to do? Get Addons , Extensions, Plugins, into the hands of your constituents more easily! ? ... Yes ?

I'm going to use 2 "old words" to get you there... Gateway & Portal, very "galactica & stargate" I know.

oh oh oh.... actually here it is... Joomla Tools Transporter (moves it back to Trek) ... LOL but presentation is part of it ...

You have Joomla, "they" have tools, you want them "transported" to your constituents! Does that work for anyone?

I'm new to this forum, but I've been doing IT Systems Admin for 22+ years & done enough "projects" that I can't count them!

gives one something to thing about, that's sharing! ENJOY!

Hi OP,

I was searching for your app at the app store and I couldn't find it.

The one I found is Joomla Admin.

Is the app still available ?

Thanks for your help !

Kind Regards
Victoria
