the patch tester component surely inspire some lazy folks like me to be more involved on testing

Then the plan changed. Is Joomla 3.2 a Standard Support Version? And when will Joomla 3.5 be released?

No plans changed.

According to roadmap:

3.2 is a short-term support release, with new features like any previous dot release.
3.5 will be a lont-term support release, released in 6 months after 3.2.
4.0 will then be released 6 months after 3.5, with new features and need to upgrade extensions and templates.

Upgrades from 3.1 to 3.2, and from 3.2 to 3.5 should be as easy as possible, as nothing fundamentally breaking should happen.

So it did renew. There's no Joomla 3.2 on the Joomla release cycle when last time I had a look. Seems I'd better to get more stars from the community. :)

Beat, Really Thanks!

I saw a post on the Gantry Framework for Joomla Google Group which stated that the 'T3 Framework' was going to be implemented / embedded into Joomla for responsiveness. If this is true, can you post a link to information on the Joomla or JoomlaCode site that gives more details?

No idea if this is true or not - ask them for info.

Can't wait to update my Joomla now.. Was very hard to do the upgrade from 1.5 to 3.1 (I was very lazy with the updates in the past and eventually I had to do it because of all the security exploits) but now from what I read it should be very easy to keep everything up to date.

As far as Joomla 3.2 and higher goes I guess I am most excited about the new and improved content version control.

JUpgrade works fine. I've done small sites and large sites with only minimal problems.

hello

The versioning feature is very great ! Until now, you had to do it with a 3rd party extension.

I would like to have a kind of validation/moderation crossed with that feature. Here is my use case :
- the current version of an article is published
- a newer version, modified by an author, is waiting for publication (which will replace the current version) ?

how is it possible ?

regards

Best way to know:

Try 3.2.0 alpha 1 out: http://developer.joomla.org/news.html

Test your workflow, and give feedback on the Feature trackers :-)

EDIT: Adding: NOW is the time where your feedbacks will be most heard and listened too, and where you can make a difference in getting the features done right and bugs fixed for 3.2 stable. :)

Hello

Okay, I've added a feature request (but I don't think it's a feature. For me it's a defect, you muste decide)

The ability to have copies of different versions should resolve this problem IF the most recent still has to be approved by a publisher. Otherwise, someone can write an article, get it approved and published, but then go back and change it to content he knows would not get approved. That would be bad.

@LukeDouglas : sure the versioning feature will allow to recover a previous state of an article.

But an author, who is moderated by a publisher when he posts an new article SHOULD enter the moderation workflow when he updates this article.

Well, 'SHOULD' is a big word and it comes down to integrity which is a trait not all people have. My concern would be that author who wants to post something 'bad', maybe hate, racist or sexual content, who posts an article that is 'lily white', it gets published and then he goes back and edits the article to include content that a 'publisher' would 'never' allow. If the edited article is allowed to be published automatically, this circumvents the entire process.

Actually, thinking of it could even allow saving of drafts for a new version of an already published article.
As that brainstorming is out of topic here, I've added it as a comment here:

new features sound great. the downside of the "frequent" updates is to be dependent on the plugin authors which requires testing...I always (have to) wait about 6 months before I update.

Then you have made a bad choice with the supplier of your extensions. There really is no reason at all for you ever have to wait anything more than a few days or weeks.

yepp, this might be related to free vs paid third party components/plugins. you are right in saying that the latter update very quickly as they are often consulted in the development upfront.

@chris_tech
My best practice: Update/Patch ASAP, but test first.

- Backup life site using Akeeba,
- restore it on my laptop,
- patch/update,
- test.
- All test OK? do it on life site!

Better safe than sorry!

It looks nice, anyways I think much more necesarry is if we can fix some old problems with urls and canonical url's than put something like ''two factor authentication'' ... also it is more important than app store and that kind of ''nice'' things, which are only nice.

I've upgraded to Joomla 3.2 in one of my sites and...this is really a brilliant update.
I love Joomla Extension Finder. So intuitive and easy to navigate.
