Re: Joomla 3.2 Video Tutorials
Hi Nick
Where is the documentation for extensions developers to fill JED's Joomla App Integration (Download Type & Download/registration/purchase URL)?
Thanks in advance
Best Regards
Anibal

Re: Joomla 3.2 Video Tutorials
Hi Anibal,
The actual fields are within each listing - around the middle of the listing. Please see attached screenshot. As to documentation for how extension developers can create plugins for "Needs Registration" and commercial extensions, I don't think there is any at the moment. However, here's a sample plugin:
https://github.com/emavro/joomlaapps-plugin
The Install from Web team could use some more help and I'll be more than glad to get you connected if you're interested in helping.
Kind regards,
Nick

Re: Joomla 3.2 Video Tutorials
Hi Nick,
The plugin does not seem to have any specific integration with JED.
About Download Type and Download/registration/purchase URL, please post some working examples.
Are these fields working? Tested? What help do you need?
Regards,
Anibal

Re: Joomla 3.2 Video Tutorials
Hi Anibal,
The plugin is for redirecting the user to the download, then redirecting the user back to Install from Web feature, in a similar process as what happens when someone purchases via Paypal then gets redirected back to the site.
Yes, the fields are working and tested. As to what help, right now it would be a big help to test the feature with your extensions, report bugs (if any are found), and then contribute your experience back to George's documentation (see below).
Looks like George was able to help you on the mailing and got you the other answers you needed For anyone else finding this topic, here's the documentation that George created:
http://docs.joomla.org/Install_From_Web_For_Developers
Thanks Anibal!
Kind regards,
Nick

Re: Joomla 3.2 Video Tutorials
I would love to see a well structured set of courses to take a non-PHP developer into developing for Joomla! (my background includes being the author of CFML development books, conference speaker and author of the popular jQuery course on Learnable.com)... even willing to work with someone on creating those resources to share with others.

Hi Sosensible,
I am pretty sure that this is the goal of Rapid Application Development layer. The documentation for RAD is under preparation.

Re: Joomla 3.2 Video Tutorials
An old post on the blog said that most people should wait for version 3.5 before they upgrade their site. Yet this looks like 3.2 is a finished version? I need to upgrade my site as had security issues . Should I use 2.5 still or is the 3.2 okay now for widespread use?

Re: Joomla 3.2 Video Tutorials
That depends mostly on the 3rd party extensions that you use.hvnanz wrote:Should I use 2.5 still or is the 3.2 okay now for widespread use?
If all are available for 3.x then I would switch to 3.x.
I use mostly Joomla 3.2 for new websites at the moment,
but only if possible regarding 3rd party extensions.
