When you have resolved an issue can you please mark the very first post with the post icon "resolved? Image Saves people a lot of reading just to discover it was already resolved

@leolam: not possible to edit an earlier post after a certain amount of time. It's good advice if it were possible to do this but the forum administrators have made it impossible for us to edit our messages after a certain amount of time (I don't know what the time limit it) ... which is a bit of a nuisance. Possibly worthwhile creating a topic in one of the "feedback" forums to let the administrators know how you feel. FWIW, I agree with you. :)

I confirm that it is not possible for me to edit the topic
Don't now where else to look for marking it as solved
This should be added to Topic tools in order to eliminate the correlation with "time to edit the main initial post"

One more note: apparently I was using the quick start files of this template.
This basically downgraded some of the Joomla files back to Joomla 3.2, hence my problems
So if you did that too that is the way to fix it
Next you will have upgrade all the components that Joomla suggests and then upgrade to the latest version again.

Hello,

You should only ever use the template package. A quickstart package is a whole Joomla! installation for you to get a basic site structure with a template together.

Many thanks
Tony
