Issue with category blog

Post by rudebhoy951 » Tue Oct 09, 2018 9:41 am

Hi all,

Using 3.8.12 and having an issue when it comes to the category blog layout.

The articles are showing fine for the first part but after about 12 items they begin to show distorted and strange. It's really frustrating, the articles are all set up the same way so I can only think it's a bug. Could be a PHP issue perhaps.

Anybody with any help will be loved dearly.

Image attached of what I mean.

Thanks for getting back to me CyrusXxX. I am using the Shape5 Vertext Framework. How did you fix yours? I did reach out to Shape5 asking for support but they aren't getting back to me and the issue is becoming rather urgent.

Hello Hello rudebhoy951, in my case solution was to recreate overrides for category blog and change number of displayed articles on gategory page.
For example this manifested on my site only if I set some number of leading articles in menu item setup. If I disable leading articles and set them to 0 and set intro articles to for example 6 and 2 columns in that menu. Layout of page was rendered properly or if I enabled Featured articles page instead.

Later I have realized that overrides and framework was the issue and changed few lines of code but in my case it wasn't vortex it was joomshaper.

Hope this helps. But please let me know what was the response from vertex/joomlart I am really curious about this.

Thanks webdongle, tested with default template and issue remains. image attached.

CyrusXxX - thanks for your comments but the page is set up for 0 leading, 100 intro, 4 colums... I've tried many variations of that and nothing seems to work.

Try
Columns 3 then 2
Also make the images for the test items the same size as the others.

It has to be an error with the template. The inspector shows that row 3 is being wrapped into row 2 and thus causing the columns for row 3 to be misplaced.

If you have a cache plugin in use, disable it while developing. If the template has a cache function, disable it. Go to System > Clear Cache and delete all
Test

I believe the error is inside the article. You have a start/end tag mismatch of a div.

In the Article the readmore is not on it's own line

Thank you everyone for your input. the error isn't coming from the article itself. I've attached a screenshot of the article content; as you can see it's very basic. The article is also a duplicate and the others are working fine so it's definitely not where the error is.

Cache deleted and no change in front end.

Anybody have any other ideas? I'd be happy to open SU access for somebody to take a look.

OK had quick look
Products >>> pressure & flow
The main category has no Articles but a sub category does

The last item 716 is badly alligned. Viewing the article in edit screen shows

Code: Select all

Volume flow meter. The electronic pressure sensor and switch 716x is equipped<br /><hr id="system-readmore" />with measuring functions for volume flow, differential pressure, filter monitoring
readmore does not have it's own line. Susspect this is the case when the lineup of Category blog is wrong in other Category pages.

And your site needs updating.

Just saw your topic on joomlart forum. I guess you have to wait for that verification.

Keep testing with Protostar. You can append the url with
/?template=protostar

I have had a look directly at the edit screen of the Articles and can tell you that they are formatted differently to each other. When you get it correct with Protostar then you can see if there is something wrong with your custom Template.

Thank you to all for your input.

I did a search online and found a company called WebsiteDons.com, I shot them off an email to see if they could live up to their name and they had the problem figured out within minutes.

The issue was coming from other articles on the page where the read more link was inside the div.

Shout out to WebsiteDons.
