Preventing a page from showing up.

Post by Tommy Tekkno » Wed Feb 26, 2020 3:55 am

Thank you for opening this. My question is how do I stop people from viewing certain pages of my site. It's not the normal pages of my site either. It's not clickable from the main website. So how do I stop people from getting into it. picture below to help visualize what people are seeing.
Thank you!!
Tommy

Does the website have an .htaccess file in the main Joomla folder?

Please post the results of the Forum Post Assistant (FPA) by following the instructions at https://forumpostassistant.github.io/docs/ so that the volunteer experts here can give you advice.

Renaming htaccess.txt to .htaccess should prevent that.

Sometimes its not about the htaccess folder but the hosting server. You may try contacting the hosting provider. Other than this, checking the requesting port might help.

There is a line in Joomla's .htaccess that prevents listing of files even if the Host does not prevent listing.

Akeeba Backup has that option too in one of the WAF settings. "Directory Listing".

If it's just that 1 folder, it can also be easily fixed by adding a blank "index.html" file in the folder. That'll get loaded then.

None of the Joomla folders have an index.html file so the same problem will exist for other folders unless Joomla's .htaccess is used.

None? Many Joomla folders have a blank index.html file.

Oh ... found a few that have index.html but the majority don't.

Thank you for all the responses. I went to rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess but I already have that file. Essentially I have both currently. What should be done about that?
