Changing Headline of User Registration Form

Post by ReneB » Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:18 pm

Dear All

I am still new Joomla and webdesign. I am also not very good in CSS, hence Joomla.

The "simple" thing I would like to change is the Headline Font of the standard Joomla user registration form. The way Joomla presents this is pretty awful. PLease see picture ...
UserReg.PNG
Is there a way to change this to something nicer? I would like to use a bigger font and perhaps bold....

Many thanks for your help.
Best wishes
René

Yes, you could do that. The css change needed depends on the template and/or the framework being used.

For example, in the template protostar, following css entry in the file template.css that is located in the directory \templates\protostar\css controls how the text you are referring to is displayed.

Code: Select all

legend {
	display: block;
	width: 100%;
	padding: 0;
	margin-bottom: 18px;
	font-size: 19.5px;
	line-height: 36px;
	color: #333;
	border: 0;
	border-bottom: 1px solid #e5e5e5;
}
You could modify or change the css entry. However, you have to ascertain that the css change does not have undesired results in other places of the site where this css is being used.

Also, if you decide to change the css, make sure that it it is done in a separate new file where the user defined css entries are kept. Most of the templates support this. In the template protostar, the user defined css entries are kept in the file user.css.

You have to refer your template's documentation for this.

As for as css entries are concerned, you could review sites such as https://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp.

To add to what @imanickam has said,
Login to your Joomla admin dashboard
In the left sidebar menu, you would find Extensions > Templates look for the current theme that you are using, and then click the on its name.
Click on the header file to edit it.

then search on google for CSS header styles, look through the results for the one that you like, then apply the styles there, and click on save afterward.
