Front end Login Topic is solved

Hello All,

Im having a strange issue after an upgrade, where our front end login is no longer working, we are on the latest version of Joomla 3.9.16.

But everytime someone tries to login the front end page just refreshes if its correct or wrong

I have checked the cookie settings and they are set to

Code: Select all

public $cookie_domain = '';
public $cookie_path = '';

Backend Login works perfectly with no issues at all, so a bit stumped with what to look for, as no errors in logs either.

What did you upgrade before this started happening? I take it the admin login is still working?
Edit: read to the end now!!

Which version of Joomla did you update from? Have you cleared the cache in the back end? What about the cache in the browser?

Is the website using the standard Joomla login form and login module, or does the login process perhaps use a third party extension?

Check the html folder of the front end template if it contains override folders com_users or mod_login?

We have done the following:

- We upgraded from 3.9.15 to 3.9.16 and then all stopped work
- we cleared all cache on all machines & site
- folder is com_users

I just disabled the folder com_users - it did change the layout but still doesnt work.

The component jdownloads seems to be throwing an error. There is an update for it to 3.2.67. Install it and see if the issue clears.

Are all your third party extensions up to date. There is an eprivacy plugin on the login page preventing cookies being set. If it is Michael Ritchey's it is out of date.

You hit the nail on the head, it was that extension that was kicking out the cookies, now i have disabled all those extension for him, and it now all works

Great. GDPR does not disallow essential cookies and the default cookies used by Joomla fall into this category.
