403 Forbiden on Save/Cancel an existing article

Post by wortex » Tue Apr 13, 2021 12:40 am

HI,
I've seen some articles regarding this issue, but they have several years old, and some of them are for older versions of joomla.

My stack is:
- Joomla_3.9.25-Stable;
- WebHost with PHP 7.4 managed with CPanel or WHM;
- Friendly URL's activated, with a .htacess on the root of the instalation;

I´ve been developing in localhost, and when i achieved a stable release version for production i putted the site on the online webhost, that happened yesterday.

I have praticaly no 3rd party extensions, the only one i use is DJ Imageslider for the frontpage banner rotator only.

In my article/category structure I have used the native custom fields, only two new fields with a TinyMce editor each one. Custom fields only assigned to articles on a specific category.

THE PROBLEM:
- Editing a new article, that has content on those custom fields, when i hit SAVE it gives me a 403 forbiden;
- Cancel the same article, 403 Forbiden;
- Save & New or Save as a Copy - 403 Forbiden;

NOT A PROBLEM:
- Create a new article, adding text to the main text field, pictures, assigning a category... when i hit save its a success;
- Open that same article to edit some text, when save, not a problem;

PROBLEM APPEARS:
- When i typed some text on the custom fields of that previously new created article -> 403 Forbiden

I managed to find conscistency on this behavior.

The only thing that i didnt tryed yet is to remove the text on the custom field from an existing article (not a recent created one).

Does anybody came with a similar problem?
Did I find a bug?

Can anyone give me some hints to solve this issue?

Thanks for any contribution, I am a huge fan of Joomla since the version 1 :)

Check your server's firewall if you're getting a server error or Joomla security extensions if you're getting a Joomla error.

In fact that was a server security rule on mod_security that catch the POST parameters and signed it has a unsecurity request, blocking it completly.

I managed to see the mod_security logs and find out that my IP address was blocked.
The block was triggered by the POST and after disabling that rule the POST passed successfully.

Problem resolved.

Thanks for the hint :)
