Contact form question

Post by gsanta » Tue Jun 15, 2021 1:51 pm

Hello,
If someone uses the contact form on my site and sends, i do receive it in the appropriate email, but with a strange problem. When i look at the email in my inbox, it says my personal email address in the FROM: area. I don't want this but i cant for the life of me find where to change this. That email is not the email used in the contact. The only area i can find this email address is in my admin account as a super users but that shouldnt matter, should it?
I just want it to say either the correct email or just the name of the business. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Did you add yourself to Linked User?

Go to Components > Contacts
Open the contact

At Linked User, click to select a (new) user and click on - No User - .

Also check if the contact email is correct.

Since it's your Joomla site that sends the email, the FROM: field will have your site email address set in Global Configuration. The email address of the person filling out the form is in the REPLAY-TO. It have to be like this as your site is not authorised to send email on behalf of anyone except your site domain. Otherwise it will be treated as spam and rejected by most email providers.

Yes, it is your site that sends the email (not the person who filled in the form) thus your site email is the sender (from field).

It is for privacy reasons because if the person requests a copy of the form to be sent to them then they see the site email (in the from field) not the personal email of the user associated with the contact form.
