New jpeg files shows broken link

Post by redspiral » Mon Jun 21, 2021 11:19 am

Please help, anybody?
New jpeg files that I load to my media files in Joomla shows a broken link when loaded to my website. No problem with old jpeg files though; when I load an old file in the place of the new file, the pictures shows up correctly on the web page once saved but any new jpeg file displays a broken link.

Thank you!

That really isn't much to go on, sorry...
Wrong extension, perhaps (.jpg instead of .jpeg)? Wrong path to the folder with the image?
The fact that an opinion is widely held is no evidence whatsoever that it is not utterly absurd.

As @jaydot said with his suggestions, but additionally, check the 'case' of the file e.g. "file.jpg", "File.jpg" and "FILE.jpg" are three different files as far as Linux is concerned (that is, if you're on Linux Hosting).

How are you uploading files? Through an FTP program - in which case make sure the file format is "binary" not "ASCII" or via Media Manager, in which case, it should upload to /images folder. Are you inserting images through the Article editor (TinyMCE, or JCE etc)? Please post a link to your live site, showing the problem of the missing image

Thank you AMurray & Jdot.
I access Joomla Administrator; upload the files from my laptop to the Media folder; all the images, old and new, have a .jpg extension. I use the WYSWIG editor to add the images to a page/section. I also checked the HTML/CSS code but could not see any problem there.
Here is a copy of the source code:

<p><a title="Find us on Linkdin" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/nico-von-stade-77b7038a/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img title="Find us on Linkdin" src="images/Linkdin_logo.jpg" alt="Linkdin logo" width="93" height="93" /></a><img title="Find us on Facebook" src="images/FB_logo.jpg" alt="Facebook logo" width="93" /></p>

there's no need for the <img> tag in your first example. I'd say in this case Google's console is the best way to find out what's going wrong with your image links.
