HTTP 500 error after update to 3.1.4

Post by otbbAdmin » Sat Jul 27, 2013 4:40 pm

Still new to Joomla and learning on the demo site. I updated to Joomla 3.1.4 from the backend Dashboard and now frontend access only returns the HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. The backend seems to be okay so far except when I try to access Global Configuration in which case I receive the same HTTP 500 error.
Have I done something wrong? How do I repair the problem? Thanks....

Please try using the hotfix on this page (thanks JM)

Thanks for the responses. To 'alikon' I did clear the caches, sorry I meant to put that in the original post. To 'mcsmom' I applied the hotfix, cleared the caches again, still no result.

Question though, on the browser cache, I am cleaning the temporary internet and website files, images, webpages, images, etc. Do I also need to clear the cookies and website data?

One other symptom that wasn't apparent until I had logged out of the backend and tried to log back in is that my passwords had been reset to a random password, just as if I had opened a new demo account. I reset the password(s), via my cloudaccess.net account, to the previous password. Still no luck though.

Cleared the caches again also. Just noticed that from backend my "Edit Account" has the same HTTP 500 error.

Well, it seems that everything that changes any kind of configuration or profile is broken. The list of modules, templates, users, articles, etc. all appear, but when I try to access them to modify, or create a new one, I get the error.

You should not need to clear your site cache although it couldn't hurt to test.
