The mail function has been temporarily disabled on this site

Postby volksman3 » Thu Nov 07, 2013 9:14 pm

Hi All

We have just updated Joomla 3.2.0 and since the upgrade we are getting The mail function has been temporarily disabled on this site, please try again later. on any kind of form when we submit it including the contact form - any ideas as it looks to be the update that has caused this as before they all worked just fine?

Regards

Tony

Some progress, i just switched over to 'sendmail' from 'php mail' in the site config and it now works, odd thing is pre the update it was working on php mail just fine.

We have a resolution for now but would be good to know what the cause was.

Regards

Tony

I had this same issue (among others) after the upgrade 3.2

Changing to Sendmail did not work for me (emails would still not send), so I tried changing the setting back to PHP Mail and now it works again.

So "turning the switch off and then back on again" seems to have fixed the problem for me.

I also got the same issue, I just switched to phpmail -> sendmail -> saved -> sendmail -> phpmail and saved...

it works, what would be the cause for this bug?

Ah...and I thought I was going crazy. So it is happening to others too. I'm experiencing other issues to and thinking 3.2 version is not quite ready. Good thing I have a backup because I think I will need to revert back.

Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)
Document your customizations!

Saving the Global Configuration happened not to correct this issue for me however I found an alternative solution by adding the following line to the configuration.php

Code: Select all

public $mailonline = '1';

Despite the Global configuration mentions that mails should be sent, the line mentioned above doesn't exist in configuration.php. Saving global configuration, without changing anything, created the line for me. This applies to a 315 upgraded to 320 on MySQL environment.

Not being able to save configuration data may be related to using caching. See http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... 27&start=0
