Looking for a Filter Module working with Joomla's Custom Fields

Postby fada » Wed Sep 13, 2017 9:30 am

Hi !
Custom Fields in Joomla are just fantastic :-)
But I am looking for ways to filter the articles by using Custom Fields.
So far, I have seen
- JA Mega Filter (but they use their own views and no proper template/layout override...)
- or EasyLayouts (which will have a filter module I think, but it is still not there).

Any idea of other existing solutions ?
(or workarounds, for example Tags-Filter-Module works on Tags, but is nice/clean/efficient https://www.renekreijveld.nl/extensies/ ... ter-module)

Txs a lot for your suggestions/thoughts/... :-)

this might help https://www.joomlart.com/documentation/ ... megafilter
1. Create override layout for supported 3rd party extension

JA Megafilter includes override layout for supported 3rd party extensions: Virtuemart, Hikashop, Mijoshop, Eshop, etc. The override layout file is stored in the corresponding filter plugin of the 3rd party extension. For example, with Virtuemart, the layout file is stored in folder: /plugins/jamegafilter/virtuemart/tmpl, it is the same for other 3rd party extension.

In this documentation, we will create override layout for Virtuemart, you can do the same for all other supported 3rd party extensions

Hi,
Txs for the suggestion of JA Mega Filter.
Actually, I have already the licence and I have already played with it.

But as mentionned in my question, I need another solution because Joomlart JA Mega Filter does not allow "standard Joomla template override or layout override". There is that little file in the plugin filter, but even the way to insert a Joomla Custom Field is not standard.

So any other suggestion is still welcome :)
Please don't hesitate

Hi,
I have gathered all I found about Custom Fields in this article (in French, but all extensions are in English)
https://cinnk.com/magazine/juillet-2017 ... elds-bonus

Specifically about Filters, here is what I found :

EasyLayouts should in a near future come with a Filter Module
https://www.easylayouts.net/

A French filter tool :
https://www.conseilgouz.com/sources/simple-isotope
Démo (with Tags, but also works on CF) : https://www.conseilgouz.com/developpements-joomla

Joomlart has MegaFilter uses its own layout (which is not nice if you want to make overrides)
https://www.joomlart.com/joomla/extensi ... for-joomla

Another last tool : Joomla CFS. It is a Search Tool working on Custom Fields
Extension : http://www.joomla-cfs.com

I dont know enough English to tell you how happy i am for reading https://cinnk.com/magazine/juillet-2017 ... elds-bonus

You should re-publish in joomla magazine or similar!

In my opinion, JOOMLA CUSTOM FIELDS is the future of joomla. Joomla as a native CCK is here...

Oh, thank you *very much* for your kind appreciation... and for your translation :)

I have added two things since #jwc17 (Joomla World Conference in Rome this w-e) :
- the link to the video of some presentation of #jwc17 about EasyLayouts and Custom Fields (video itself comes this week online)
- one [youtube] video plugin (nx-)

I will see if we can make something for the Joomla Community Magazine.
(there were interesting discussions about it at #jwc17 as well. Things are moving :) )

Great! I will be waiting news! :pop

Now i am testing the EasyLayouts Custom fields filter module (and the Easylayout Menu items with Custom Fields conditions).

2 small "bugs" detected... and they have solved them in less than 24h!

They are begging, but seems they are in a good direction.

Personally, i think that the components name (Easy Layouts), it is "small" for describe what you can do with it! Not only layouts! They are developing (in my not developer opinion) a Joomla CCK 100% compatible!

Note: If someone is reading this post, you must know that there is a promotion in their website and now Easylayouts is free.

one Russian team made free filter for category blog (system plugin + module).
supported fields: radio, checkbox, list, textfield.
i tested it, works fine. soon will publish on JED.
also we discovery some issues about search/filtering custom fields and make PR on GitHub, seems like it will be included in Joomla 3.8.3, so it will be good time to start use filter.
you can take it here
https://joomline.ru/rasshirenija/moduli/jlcontentfieldsfilter.html
press red button, after - green button to download (English language files included).
install package, activate plugin, publish module.

important! you must not use 'default' values in custom fields, because they not saved in DB as normal values (it will be fixed in Joomla soon). now not native search not filter can filter default values so dont report about it :)
