Backend login problems after update to 3.8.4

Post by Morphinaru » Sat Feb 03, 2018 6:15 pm

Got the serious issue after update Joomla sites to 3.8.4
Can't login via backend (as administrator). Press Enter - and nothing (no errors at all).
Later found a way to log in (a little bit tricky) - press enter - wait - pres enter again - got token error - reload page - and i'm here. The admin area became very slow and after some time inactivity got - bad gateway error.
The hoster says I have too many apache processes that slow down the server.

Have 2 problems site. The one was restored from backup - and it works fine now. Can't restore the second site - too many new articles and other changes till last backup.

This is not new router problem #19512 doesn't help.
Any idea?

Can't find the solution. Just restored from backup. This was the worst update in my life. Lost all works for two days.

I know this is an old post but still could impact people.
With Joomla 3.8.4 they made changes to how the session database table is cleaned.

Servers that are configured a certain way will now have session table issues.
Those session tables are now out of control and are not being cleaned like they were. One of the symptoms other than the obvious vistors, and administrators showing an incorrect large amount. Logging into the administrator area is taking longer and longer due to the amount of records in that table.

High traffic sites now have session tables in the hundreds of MB with hundreds of thousands of rows. I am sure your site is running out of resources when reading that session table when you try to login.

I have been truncating mine.
