Problem with MySQL in Joomla

Post by aballevar » Fri Jul 20, 2018 12:08 am

I used Joomla! to create a POC of a site and then migrate the idea to a web server. For the POC I followed the steps to install Joomla 3.8.2 on my computer and all works good but the problems started when I start to migrate to a web server. I followed the same steps that I used on the POC but for some reason mysql doesn´t work.

To install the database on Joomla I follow the following steps:
-Download the packages of mysql

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client
-Enter to mysql with

Code: Select all

mysql -u root -p
Here is my first problem, the output is:

Code: Select all

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
-I correct that error reinstalling mysql and all works with

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mysql-server
-After that, everything works and I can work with the site.

But after 30 minutes occurs the same problem and in the Joomla site this the error:

Code: Select all

Error displaying the error page
I searched in the computer the mysqld.sock and my.cnf of mysql but doesn´t exist and I don´t know why.

Use the current version https://downloads.joomla.org/
To transfer from localhost to a live server
Use Akeeba to create a backup https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/akeeba-backup/
On the server create a database, database user and password
Upload the backup file to the server
Use kickstart to unpack the backup
