Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
Hi,
On a new install of J3.8 I've created an article with an intro using 'Read More' button/code for display in a blog category.
However, when clicking 'Read More' and viewing the full article the intro is being placed at the bottom of the article instead of the top - it's the intro so it's the beginning of the full article.
I have 'Show Intro' set to 'Yes' so I don't understand this strange behavior. I've used every previous version of Joomla and never had this happen before.
Does anyone have any ideas? Apologies if I'm missing something simple.
Thanks.

Check your template overrides.

Sorry, overrides are over my head!
I've used this exact template version on my main 10k page J2.5 site and not run into this problem with the template settings identical. Would J3.8 cause it to behave differently?

Test with Protostar then see https://docs.joomla.org/How_to_override ... omla!_core to see how overrides work and where to look on your Template.

Thanks for the replies. I'll do as you suggest Webdongle. Otherwise Sozzled may have me buying another template! The template actually seems to be functioning exactly as it does on J! 2.5 (desktop & mobile) except for this one odd issue - so far.
The template author (a well-known one) has it listed as 3.x compatible (although I suspect that's more in hope!) - their support is unfortunately verging on non-existent.

Re: Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
It's NOT the template guys. I checked with Protostar and same problem. In fact that doesn't even display the content before <readmore> anywhere on the page.
Where now anybody? Create an article with a different text editor? I used CKEditor for 3.x.

That's been set to 'Yes' from installation and unchanged Sharky. I've gone through all Article, Category and Menu settings over and over and everything tells me it should be working fine

J! 2.5 extensinons [generally] do not work with J! 3.x.
Any other ideas (at this time) are just guesses. Suggest you use the Forum Post Assistant report so that we can see what else may be related to problems that you're having. My only other suggestion is to [completely] uninstall the template and use with Protostar as @Webdongle recommended.

Re: Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
Thanks sozzled and Webdongle.
Webdongle - Yes there is a readmore break in the article at the point shown in the first image of my OP. So that works as it should in the blog category view. The problem occurs in the full article view.
sozzled - I'll try uninstalling the template and it's framework plugin and giving protostar another go. I'll also use the Forum Post Assistant and post the results.

Right, 3rd party template fully uninstalled. Browser history cleared entirely. Switched to Protostar and it's still only showing the article with the content after the <readmore> tag.

Very confused and unfortunately the FPA output means nothing to me.
Do you see anything unusual sozzle (or anybody)? Thanks for the help.

Re: Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
There appears to be several things wrong with the site
https://www.ei-psychology.org/ shows Joomla sample data
https://www.ei-psychology.org/information/ is a 404 (surely there should be a menu item of that name for it to be part of the url) ?
What is the url to the blog page with that Article on ?
Also please create a menu module for your menu and publish it to a Protostar position.
An image of the Article edit page would be useful (please insert into your post instead of linking to it).

The URL displays a single article. There is no "read more" break in the display. This is normal behaviour when displaying a single article. What else were you expecting? The "read more" break—truncating the article to show only the "intro text"—is only used in a category blog display.
Nothing unexpected here, sorry.

I created another article to test with Protostar and same problem - only showing the text after the readmore code (<hr id="system-readmore" />).

Re: Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
This website doen't have a working menu. The "read more" thing has no purpose when an article is displayed in the "full"/single article view. The "read more" thing only works in a category blog display. Do you understand the difference?
Nothing wrong here that I can see. Are you saying that there was some content before the "readmore" <HR> HTML tag in the article? Are you saying that this text us not appearing on the full view? As @Webdongle asked, a screenshot of the article "edit" page would be useful.

Re: Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
Thanks sozzled. I was expecting the full article to be displayed including the content before the <readmore> - surely that makes sense and is how most websites behave? What use is a partial article? I guess this is a quirk of J! design.
I was hoping to avoid adding a 3rd party blog component but it looks like that's the only option.
Back to the drawing board I guess.
Thanks for the help; much appreciated.

Wait on! We asked you to post a screenshot of the article editor. Please do that first and then we'll deal with the "what use is a partial article" question after that. Thanks.

Yes, I understand the difference between Category Blog display and category List display.
The menu is functional only in the original template I was using as it uses HTML5/CSS features.
Yes, there is content before the <readmore> in the new article I sent the link to. I've attached below:

Re: Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
Main menu published to the right (position-7) in protostar. The articles are found under Information > Articles. Thanks.

Re: Intro Text at Bottom in Full Article View
Thanks Webdongle > that did it. It shows the full articles clicking 'Read More' from Blog View now too - exactly what I was after
I had all set to Global Settings (which was 'Show Intro Text') but it appears only setting everything manually does the trick. I'm sure you know why but that makes no sense to me...
It was bound to be a simple solution but it's a long time since I built a site from scratch.
Appreciate all the help immensely guys. Thank you for taking the time to help out a simpleton!

"I had all set to Global Settings (which was 'Show Intro Text')"
Then clicking readmore should show the Article intro and full text
Article settings would have no affect unless the Blog menu item setting was 'use article settings'
It could have been a cache issue and changing the settings cleared the cache ?
If you had a menu item for the Article then that would take precedence over the blog menu item settings.
