Trying to include google ads
This is my first time building a Joomla site. Spent a day learning and it only took a day to build a working site. It is all useless unless I can include Google ads (Adsense). I have now spent over a week trying different things and I can't get AdSense to show up at all. I have tried adding the code manually, tried the Banner Manager, downloaded modules and still I get nothing. Not even error messages showing on the site. Is there any documentation anywhere that explains how to do this.I find information on adding graphic ads but nothing on adding the code needed for AdSense. I really don't think I'm a dummy but I'm obviously overlooking something. Really need some help.
Thanks
Dale

Re: Trying to include google ads
I am using the protostar template (for now) and have tried entering the code using the banner module. I have also tried "Phoca Gae" and "KISS GooSence". I also used "Head CSS Script" to be able to add code to the header. Both Phoca Gae and KISS GooSence don't give any information about anything going in the header. In fact I'm not sure they will work with the newest Google code. I have tied them both with code in the header and without. nothing seems to work. I'm also not sure if Head CSS Script puts the code in the right place. I'm still trying different options but I was hoping to find a little guidance from someone who has already done this.

Re: Trying to include google ads
Gee, thanks, @Webdongle. I'll have a look at those extensions (particularly https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/phoca-gae/). Here I've been, for a couple of years, thinking that Google Ads didn't like the brand of deodorant I've been wearing or some other reason why my—erstwhile successful—use of Google Adsense code has not worked.

Yes perhaps the OP can read the documentation (for the extensions he tried) that he says doesn't exist.

Re: Trying to include google ads
To answer a few questions people have asked.
Yes I can read and have read the documentation on both websites. As I stated earlier, neither mentioned anything about code in the head section of the site, which the new tags require. Also it appears both are designed for "GAM tags" which were discontinued by Google 6 years ago. They continued to work until January 14, 2019.
Yes I have been using Google ads for nearly 15 years. I still have them operating on websites today and I'm quite sure it's not a problem with my deodorant.
This is my first Joomla Website and I am having a little difficulty with the ads. I'm not real familiar with the structure of Joomla and that is why I asked for help. I'll continue to work on this and I do read your responses and appreciate them. I defiantly don't claim to be any kind of expert and it may be I'm simply missing a step or even doing something stupid. What ever it is I will publish the answer to help others that may have the same or similar problem.

Re: Trying to include google ads
Thanks, I will check there. I am finding the tags are going into the page but the header code is not. I guess I'll have to put it in there a different way. Sometimes it takes longer to find the "quick" way to do things.Per Yngve Berg wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 9:08 amI suggest you ask in the Phoca Forum.

Re: Trying to include google ads
The header code must be placed between <head> and </head> in the template's index.php if you don't use an extension.

@Schibbelhut
Make sure your site is included in Google AdSense If you want to use Google Auto ads you will get code that must be placed in <head></head>. For this I suggest Phoca Site plugin. Download, install, enter AdSense code in Head Custom Code field and enable plugin.
If you want to use Google ad units then create Custom module in Joomla and place given code but make sure that text editor doesn't clean your code.
Make sure you don't use some AdBlocker browser extension.
