Warning Message?
Hello
On entering the template settings via the front end, I get this warning ......
JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Path: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/../templates/joomspirit_128/images/background
JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Path: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/../templates/joomspirit_128/images/social-icons
I have emailed the template company but they couldn't help. There is no sub folder inbetween public_html and templates and the folders exist, so is it something to do with the /../?
Thanks
Terry

Re: Warning Message?
It looks like a path error in the coding.
means go up one directory
I suspect that
Is being call from within the /joomspirit_128 folder
oris being treated as an absolute url
https://forumpostassistant.github.io/docs/ please
Code: Select all
../

Re: Warning Message?
Found this in templateDetails.xml
You can add your own image in the folder 'images/social-icons' of the template" directory="../templates/joomspirit_128/images/social-icons" exclude="" stripext="" />
You can add your own image in the folder 'images/background' of the template" directory="../templates/joomspirit_128/images/background" exclude="" stripext="" />
But what should it be?

JoomSpirit Slider current version is 3.0. Update that first. Also look how it is linking to images.

Not here https://www.joomspirit.com/free-joomla- ... pathway-14
Or here https://extensions.joomla.org/extension ... it-slider/
I actually tried , and I altered the XML file (mentioned above) and all is working now with no warning messages.
There is another line in teh XML file <link rel="stylesheet" href="../templates/joomspirit_128/css/admin.css" type="text/css" />
Would this do anything as it has the same ../

Re: Warning Message?
@Webdongle is correct in concluding that something has been introduced into the situation that attempts to use a relative URL construct (e.g. ../folder/sub-folder) within an absolute URL situation (i.e. domain-root/folder/subfolder/dah-dah-dah).
These are tricky things to work with. They're tricky because we don't know where (or how) the relative URL construct was use (or what or who did things that way). This is the catherinepiner website, yes?
If this were me (and, fortunately, it's not) it would probably take me about half-an-hour to figure out. I could probably talk things over with the OP, one-on-one, face-to-face, via videoconferencing, and we may (or may not) identify the source of the issue. I could make an hour available (at a mutually-agreed time) but if I can't figure it out in that time then this probably requires a more concerted approach from someone you're paying for their service.
Just to kick off the conversation, I don't know where these "social icons" or "background" thing are located, used, or appear on your website. I don't even know what each CSS file does or how they're used on the target website. I'm approaching this from first-principles because I know nothing about the template, I know nothing about some "slider" thing and I certainly know nothing about the overall purpose of the the website. So that's where we'd need to begin.

Re: Warning Message?
Yes its the catherinepiner website. The thing is I went through all the files in the template and the only absolute URLs were in the XML file, once altered the background / social URLs there was no more warning message. (They are located in the template settings in the front end) So basically its sorted, the site seems stable and no template issues but my last question is just appertaining to the one other absolute URL that was in the XML file?sozzled wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 6:51 am@Webdongle is correct in concluding that something has been introduced into the situation that attempts to use a relative URL construct (e.g. ../folder/sub-folder) within an absolute URL situation (i.e. domain-root/folder/subfolder/dah-dah-dah).

I believe the slider to be irrelevent as it doesn't use any background or social icon folders.

Re: Warning Message?
I believe you're right and I think we can dismiss that as the cause.
And while the issue is "sorted" and you only have "warning messages" for things that probably aren't used on the website (e.g. "social icons" and some kind of "background") then there's not really a problem except that the error_log file will accumulate these warnings and continue to grow. But that's not something you're terribly interested in finding the cause, is it?
So ... two choices: (a) live with the warnings and accept that they're a great mystery that you couldn't be bothered to deal with, except if you had nothing better to do with your time, or (b) fix it and rest comfortable in the knowledge that you've made your wife really happy.
It's not my marriage at stake here, is it?
It's entirely your problem and entirely your choice what you do about it. Good luck!

Re: Warning Message?
No , the alterations I made to the XLM file mean NO warning messages.
My only concern is something that isn't producing any errors but seems to be the same as the URLs that had the problem

Re: Warning Message?
No problems. Sounds like you fixed the problem! You should ask your wife to prepare a special treat for you (or, at the very least, make you a cup of coffee for your efforts). I think this matter is resolved. Congrats and best wishes.
