Migration to new webspace: Menu broken!

Post by hoehme » Thu May 06, 2021 3:51 pm

Hi,
I have moved my Joomla installation to a new webspace, migrated the files with Akeeba Kickstart and updated the database successfully - I think. The main landing page also works fine on the the webspace:

https://hoehmelab.izbi.uni-leipzig.de/

However, when I use menu items, these links lead to error pages. For example, clicking on "PEOPLE", the system correctly opens:

https://hoehmelab.izbi.uni-leipzig.de/people

... but this page does not work anymore. However, it did work before the migration.

What did I do wrong?

Try to disable SEF Rewrite.

Do you have a .htaccess file to use with Rewrite?

Please use and post the FPA. See red frame above.

When disabling SEF Rewrite, the menu now works! However, instead of the old, more readable address:

https://hoehmelab.izbi.uni-leipzig.de/people

we see:

https://hoehmelab.izbi.uni-leipzig.de/i ... eople.html

in the address bar of the browser. How can the old version be restored?

I use the following "htaccess.txt":

Code: Select all

# It is required for the use of mod_rewrite, but it may have already been set by your

# If using it causes your site to produce an error, comment it out (add # to the
# beginning of the line), reload your site in your browser and test your sef urls. If
# they work, then it has been set by your server administrator and you do not need to
# set it here.

You must rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess for rewrite to work. Note the leading dot.

Thanks for the hint, but I renamed the file to ".htaccess" and the behaviour did not change.
