Configuration Confusion

Here is what I am currently confused about:

Firstly: I don’t understand how the configuration system works with Joomla. If I set an article that is attatched to a menu with the global configuration under articles as:
Show Title: Yes Linked Title: Yes
It shows the article title linked

Then I go to the articles section under options and set it to
Show Title: No Linked Title: No
Nothing Changes it still shows the title and it is linked

If I go to the Menu section under options and set it to
Show Title: No Linked Title: No
Then it does not show the article title at all
If I then switch it back to
Show Title: Yes Linked Title: No
It show the title and unlinks it

So I don’t understand why there is an option in the article section to change the show title/linked title if it does not do anything.

I am trying to understand the relationship between the setting in global configuration and the options in articles/options and menus/options

Set the Menu Item to "Use Global". Otherwise it will override what is set in Article Managers Global Options.

In a Blog menu item type, a "Use Article Options" is also availble. It will Use what is set inside the article. If not set in Article, the Global will be used.

In addition to that
As well as setting menu item 'use global' you can set the menu item yes/no etc. That overrides global and the Article setting.

The exception is meta data where any meta data entered in the Article take precedence.
