Inserting an automatically updating data field in an Article

Similar to Custom Fields, I would like to have a collection of data fields that can be inserted in to Articles.

But if that original data field is changed, the change should reflect on any Article that has that data field embedded.

Custom Fields do not automatically update in this way.

Can you please help me find a way of achieving this? Is there an existing plugin that I could use?
