Issues moving host Windows to Linux

Postby leighbee98 » Mon Jan 09, 2017 2:25 pm

Hi All

Firstly im brand new and so I apologies in advance.. wish me luck.

I made a bit of a mistake in taking on the hosting for a customer and saying ill move your website for you.

This is how I have come to meet Joomla for the first time.

I have a back up of all site files and a .sql database back up, simple i thought, ive done plenty of other db sites...

The main issue as i can see it is that my db back up will not import to the new db in phpadmin it errors as such

CREATE DATABASE `databasenamejdb` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci;

MySQL said: Documentation

#1044 - Access denied for user 'blahblah'@'localhost' to database 'Databasenamejdb'

(I do not recognise the user... or database name from the ones I have created.)

Upon further investigation it seems that the original config.php is missing any db fields and the paths look like windows "inetpub"

Is there anything I can do to get this little blighter up? (I dont have access to the old host personally)

One way (and in my opinion the best way) would be to install Akeeba Backup on the old site, and use the "transfer wizard" to help you move the site.
Don't HACK the Joomla! core. Extend and Override.
Stay ON the update path.

Ill remember for future, unfortunately I never had access to the old host. The files were sent to me by their old web/host.

Thanks for the tip

Update

Removed the create database from the .sql file and the import succeeded.

I had to edit the users table to reset the password, then updated joomla.

Then had to fix the database due to missing tables errors

Then cleared cache to fix Gantry errors.

Then Purge cache to take the site out of offline mode as it kept saying offline despite whatever i did in the control panel.

Now the site is up and running. And I thought windows was a pain!!!
