PHP issue with local Joomla installation using WampServer
Joomla advises to upgrade to PHP 8.0 as from Dec 2021 the older PHP versions will not be supported any more. I upgraded the online version successfully and made a successful backup with Akeeba. I use the latest version of Joomla; being 3.9.27
I need to make a new ‘offline’ installation using a WampServer for Windows 10 21H1 (latest version wampserver3.2.3_x64.exe). It looks as this does not support PHP 8.0.
How to proceed and is it safe to install this with and older PHP-version with respect to my backups?
Best regards,

Download PHP 8.0.8 from the following Wampserver repository: https://wampserver.aviatechno.net.

Re: PHP issue with local Joomla installation using WampServer
Downloading the latest PHP 8.0.8 version from WampServer website is no problem you need WampServer version 3.2.5 or more whilst the latest version available from their website is version wampserver3.2.3_x64.
I'm not allowed or don't find any way to update this version.
Help is much appreciated.... or is it safe to downgrade the online Joomla version?

Re: PHP issue with local Joomla installation using WampServer
Do you mean downgrade Joomla or PHP? I wouldn't do the former, but yes, you can run your site on PHP 7.4 (e.g. 7.4.20 or 7.4.21) - available on the Wampserver downloads site under the "Addons" section. PHP 7.4 is actively supported until approx November 2022 with extended (security fixes only) support until November 2023.
It's PHP 7.3.x that is ending support in November 2021.[/i]
(Reference: https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php)
It might be difficult to spot but just below the Download links for v 3.2.23, there is another link on https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/ for "update 3.2.25".

Wampserver Downloads wrote:Updates only "Wampmanager", does not add any Apache PHP, MySQL or MariaDB versions. It is a cumulative update. It is not necessary to apply the old updates 3.0.1 to 3.2.4 before applying 3.2.5. There will be no changes to your Apache, PHP, MySQL, MariaDB settings and versions used; your local sites and databases will not be affected. This update is necessary to install the latest Apache, PHP, MySQL or MariaDB addons.

Just a short message to inform that all works fine (online and local) with all updated features. I only had problems with Internet Explorer with KickStart. Chrome solved this problem.
Thanks to everybody for the assistance!
