Hi
I installed joomla 3.1 from ftp client, copied all the uncompressed file to the website root.
Database was already there, a old installation existed.
But when i try to connect to the website for to finish the installation, the website redirect me to a very strange url like:
http://mywebsite.com/installation/insta ... /index.php
Any idea about what is the problem?
Thanks in adavance.

Re: Installation problem
Why not just update (through Joomla itself) from whatever version you have, to whatever version you updated to?
Can you provide the old version no# and confirm whether it's 3.1(three-point-one) or 3.10 (three-point-one-zero (three-point-ten)). you're using now?
Documentation on updating is below but not sure specifically if your old version was 2.5.x or not: https://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_2.5_to_3 ... _Migration

Re: Installation problem
Thanks for your answer,
why i want to install 3.1 and not 4.3.
In fact i'm not the admin of the server, and our mysql version is 5.5 and requirements for 4.3 is 5.6 minimum.
The server admin told me that migth be not necessary, and for to be sure about this, would be to install 3.1, then test and see if all is fine, then upgrade to 4.0 and see if all is still good.
The admin don't want to upgrade mysql, because many other app use mysql and his fear, is if we upgrade we can create more problems for the others apps.
But it wasn't my question
.
Any ideas about my problem?
Thanks

Re: Installation problem
The problem is that you forgot to delete the folder called Installation. You said you copied the unconpressed file to the webroot but you also need to delete the folder (AFTER) called Installation after you have copied the "Full Package".neo13 wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 7:42 amHi

You can test this by RENAMING the folder from "Installation" to "DELETED-Installation". If this works then you can delete the folder completely.
Good luck.

Fire the server admin. He/She has no idea where she/he is talking about. We are now at PHP 8.x and PHP 5 is dead for many years!
I know it is an old post but could not resist
