Which editor in "Global Configuration" should I choose?
I am trying to configure my Joomla website. In Global Configuration part, there are 3 type of editor (which are TinyMCE, CodeMirror and none). Which editor is best and convenient?

I think most people would choose TinyMCE, since it gives someone who doesn't know HTML an assist with properly coding an article.
Don't HACK the Joomla! core, Instead "Extend" and/or "Override."
Stay ON the update path.

I also know not much about HTML so CodeMirror is not suitable for me. I'll pick TinyMCE editor then. Thank you for your suggestion.

Nothing wrong with Tiny MCE but other WYSIWYG editors are available via the Extension Directory. JCE is popular with many users. I use Ark Editor.
Try a few and see which you prefer.

Agree with JAVesey JCE https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/jce/ is best

Your suggestion is so plentiful I think. These editors you mentioned (WYSIWYG, JCE, Ark), are they all available via Extenstion Directory?

Sorry if my question bothered you. I know I am absolutely stupid when making question like that. I should try to make some search queries before asking your help!

To save any confusion......WYSIWYG" is not the name of an editor, but type of editor; an acronym for "What You See Is What You Get".
If you can use MS Word then you can use the WYSIWYG editors.

Re: Which editor in "Global Configuration" should I choose?
If you like the standard editor tiny mce, then I would use this. If you install a third party extension you have maintan this on your own.

Not true because if you use a 3rd party editor the author(s) of the editor have to maintain it. But it is up to you to make sure that you install their updates.

Re: Which editor in "Global Configuration" should I choose?
I think this needs some clarification:astridx wrote:If you like the standard editor tiny mce, then I would use this. If you install a third party extension you have maintan this on your own.
1. If you choose to use TinyMCE then this is updated from time to time as and when you update the Joomla core.
2. If you choose another editor from JED then this will from time-to-time need updating like any other component.
I would make sure that if you use a 3rd party editor then it uses the Joomla update system to notify when an update is available. I would ensure that this is the case for any 3rd party component that you may use.
Hope that this helps a little.

I hear you, but this particular user sounds like s/he might be a little inexperienced at the moment so using components which use the updater will be a benefit initially.Webdongle wrote:Not everyone agrees with that. A lot are complaining viewtopic.php?f=262&t=930472
And getting back to the thread, Ark Editor doesn't seem to use the Joomla Updater as yet but installing the Ark Extension manager means that checking for updates is easily done

I agree that an extension needs to use the updater. JCE is my editor of choice
