Installing Joomla on Raspberry Pi - get page with only the text "error" when first setting up

I'm trying to install Joomla_3.8.3-Stable-Full_Package on a raspberry pi 3 without much luck. After installing everything I go to load Joomla for the first time to set up and all I get when loading page /installation/index.php is a page with the text "error" and nothing else.

I first followed a tutorial on this site running nginx. When I couldn't get anything noticeable in the logs I figured I would remove and start over with Apache2. Same results though.

I tried a php test page which successfully runs and outputs all PHP infor (both with nginx and apache). I'm running PHP Version 7.0.19-1. When scanning this output I see nothing obvious to indicate there is an install issue with PHP.

I've searched all over this forum and google and see issues with "blank" pages which I read many in search of ideas without much luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I like that tool, thank you...Data from it is below.

It highlights that it can't detect mysql which doesn't really surprise me because I haven't been able to get far enough to even tell joomla where the server is (even though it is local). Reguardless, I've tried everything i can reguarding that...even re-installed...created user and database all over again.

Another thing that stands out is the "Warning" color associated with APACHE2HANDLER. Been searching for some insight into why it's that color therefore what I can do to fix it.
