Website in the root or in a folder and SEO

I have my site in a folder inside the root. I was told that from the SEO point of view it would be better to move it to root.


Is it true? What do you think?

It makes no difference from a SEO perspective if your website resides in the /public_html folder or not.

It is better, however, for the purposes of administering one or more websites that you may own, if you locate each site within its own separate sub-folder of /public_html.

For example

/public_html/site1 (for "site 1")
/public_html/devsite (for "devsite")
/public_html/livesite (for "livesite")
/public_html/chkndsp (for "chicken noodle soup" site)

and so on.

you can put the site in a folder and set the folder as root of the site from the configuration panel of your hosting
