Fresh install - by definition of the term in this context, would suggest wiping everything out and starting again, so yes you would lose everything you already have (so make a backup before hand).

So further info such as explaining why you need to do this would be useful to us.

Thanks for your quick reply.
Some core files may be damaged so I'd like to reinstall Joomla 3.8.10

Yes you can do a fresh joomla install without lose data, but you must have your old database and your images too. What i mean with that? You do the joomla fresh install, after you install every third party extension that you used, the template that you used, you copy the folder images that you have there all your images and when you are ready you drop your new database and you import your old database and you have all your data that you had. As you understand with this actually your database is your site. Before you do everything you back up always.

Thankyou for your reply.
I won't do that.
It would be good if I could just do an automatic update 3.8.10 to 3.8.10

I was answer just to your first question how you dont lose your data with a joomla fresh install. But if you have only some core files damaged, then you can download the joomla 3.8.10 full package and after you go to Components-Joomla Update-Upload & Update and you upload and install the joomla 3.8.10 full package that you was downloaded. Back up before you do that.
