XML Support Off restoring website Topic is solved

I am running a private server, Ubuntu 18.04, LAMP all set up. Apache2 2.4.29, PHP 7.2.9.

Running Kickstart 5.3/Angie 6.1.1, I am getting a "XML Support Off" error. I have done and checked everything I could find to download, and activate XML support. The command "php -m" shows xml, xmlreader, xmlrpc, xmlwriter active.

How do I turn this thing on?????

PHP API: apache2handler ... should be fast/cgi
Folders should be 755 ... files should be 644 (configuration.php should be 444). kickstart does not set those settings. It appears that you have set everything 777 then tried to use kickstart to unpack the .jpa over top of existing files. The .jpa file should be unpacked (by kickstart.php) to an empty directory and the installer should be given the specs for an empty database.

Thanks, I'm trying to set fast/cgi now.

This is a personal server on a home network without external access. Other settings I don't know about have forced me to go 777 to upload and run files, which is okay because it's a sandbox setup. I have run fine with the 777 until now, I had to wipe the server and restart from scratch when I upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04.

Ignore my post about fast/cgi ... and see https://docs.joomla.org/Installing_Joom ... requisites . If you choose the xampp stack then use ftp to copy the jpa and kickstart.php files.

Solved, I had PHP 7.1 and 7.2 installed. Ripping 7.1 out fixed the issue.
