Joomla! 3.8.12 Does Not Seem to Work on php 7.2 in nginx 1.14 & ubuntu 18.04

I'm new to this forum. I had used used Joomla 1.x just at the time of migration from mambo.

Now I am experimenting with joomla 3.x., especially with gantry and helium theme from http://gantry.org/downloads.

I used a linux container (ubuntu 18.04) and attempted an install using the procedure given at https://websiteforstudents.com/setup-jo ... tificates/ , but used the nginx configuration given at https://docs.joomla.org/Nginx

Linux - ubuntu 18.04 , Mariadb 10.1, php 7.2 , nginx 1.14 ( as an ubuntu container)

In spite of repeated attempts, I continued to receive the same error as described above. It was not possible to log in as administrator.

But, when I attempted the same using https://websiteforstudents.com/setup-an ... 1-support/ (downgraded php to 7.1) , the result is excellent and joomla installed perfectly.

As of now joomla 3.8.12 and php 7.2 appear not to work together.

I can categorically assure you that Joomla works very well on PHP 7.2.x; my own site works perfectly.

Check your server set-up and make sure that you use the official Joomla download from this site:
https://downloads.joomla.org

I don't see how you can try 3rd-party extensions like the Gantry framework until your basic site is installed?
