Joomla install Stuck at step 1

Post by msok » Sat Dec 01, 2018 10:56 am

I am having problems installing Joomla at step 1- Configuration. I fill out all the fields and when i click Next nothing happens a joomla logo appears and I am still stuck at step 1.

I noticed in the address bar that address goes from example Mysite.net/installation/index.php to Mysite.netinstallation/index.php# and i am stuck at step 1

Please help

Which version of Joomla are you trying to install? Did you download it from https://downloads.joomla.org?

Yes i tried with Joomla 3.9 downloaded from official website and and a quickstart template which uses joomla 3.4.2. I've been searching all over web to find an answer, maybe it is something i have to enable or disable on my hosting service provider. Tried with different PHP versions but that didn't help

If you downloaded a quickstart package, containing an old version of Joomla, released over 3 years ago, it is not surprising that you there are issues.

Check first that the Technical Requirements are fulfilled from https://downloads.joomla.org/technical-requirements and follow the instructions at https://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Installing_Joomla.

Clean the web folder, upload the latest release of Joomla, 3.9.1, then install and report any errors you see.

My guess for the "stuck on step 1" you need to investigate the settings for and/or adjust server settings such as:

Memory Limit
Max Execution time
Max Post limit
Max File max upload limit

Ask your host about these if you can't adjust them in cPanel (or other hosting account administration facility) or in a custom php.ini or user.ini file on your hosting space.

I would forget version 3.4.2 as it won't run on latest PHP (the maximum it can run on is 5.6.x)
