Latest version Installation downloading file

Hi,

I just downloaded the latest version of Joomla and uploaded the zip to my server and extracted the contents on the server.
When I try to access the site, it is downloading a file whose contents are from index.php.
The Joomla installation screen is not showing.

Can you please suggest, if I'm missing something.

The server is not executing php. Enable php on the server.
