Recently upgraded to Joomla 3.10.4 and now have no access to the back-end. Returns 404 error after the log-in screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Alisa

Some of the third party extensions may be out of date. The site has Akeeba Admin Tools 5.2.0, which is three years old, supports versions 3.4 - 3.8 of Joomla and PHP 7.3 and below. The first version of Admin Tools compatible with Joomla 3.10 and PHP 7.4 is 6.1.4. This mismatch could well be the cause of the HTTP 404 Page not found error.

Check the latest versions of all third party plugins from Joomla Extensions Directory (JED) and from the developers' websites because older third party extensions may not be covered by the Joomla Update System.

Check also if some extensions are not in use and uninstall them. For example, there are JDonation plugins for AcyMailing but AcyMailing is not installed. Secondly, there are several Videobox 6.0.0-rc6 plugins and 'rc' usually stands for 'Release Candidate', which is not meant to be used in live production.

Thanks so much for responding. I didn't even realize I had Akeeba admin tools? Never showed up in the update extensions list. I agree that extensions are out of date, but the problem is that I can't get into the Joomla admin/backend at all. So....how to remove them? Is there a way to safely remove them from outside of Joomla? I doubt it.

I might have to try to restore the backups that my host service keeps, and go back a month or so. I had access before Christmas, so I wouldn't lose too much.

This problem has been fixed - turns out my host installed a PCI scanning patch on the server which impacted my account. Good thing about this is....now getting rid of all the out-dated extensions lurking on my sites. Thanks for all the help! Cheers, Alisa
