pdf Upload not working anymore

Postby mpappe » Tue Mar 07, 2017 4:36 pm

Joomla 3.6.5, php 7. Since migration from the test environment to the life environment the pdf upload (backend, ->media, ->upload) doesn't work anymore, just giving the information "not an image". Even pdf's which have been uploaded before cannot be uploaded. The provider (no Joomla specialist)cannot help, says it must be a Joomla problem. FTP upload is fine, also pdf adding to contents.
Where can I look for the problem and its solution?

Go to Media Manager, click on Options, and then add "pdf" to the "Legal Image Extensions".

This entry already exists. It is not the media configuration. pdf-upload has been working fine before changing from test to life.

I think this actually says it all.

As a test I went to Content » Media » Upload, I then selected a PDF file stored on my PC and uploaded it. The following screenshot was made immediately after I uploaded it.

This is what I expect (and what I had before in the test environment). Now in the life environment I get the message
"not a valid image".
On Media options I have pdf in legal extensions and in legal image extensions and I have application/pdf in legal MIME types.
Could the reason be somewhere outside Joomla?

From the sounds of things, your test environment is different to your live environment; this may be the reason why attempts to upload PDF files produce the error message. It would help if you ran the Forum Post Assistant report tool on both the test and live environments and compared the differences. It would be even more helpful if you could post the report generated by the Forum Post Assistant—the report for your live environment—here on this forum.
