thanks effrit but I cannot paste anything , there is an icon not allowed on the field
how to get that field writable ?

it is readonly
[input type="text" name="jform[params][menu_image]" id="jform_params_menu_image" value="" readonly="readonly" class="input-small hasTooltip field-media-input" data-original-title="" title="" aria-invalid="false"]

I found it
it is /administrator/templates/isis/html/layouts/joomla/form/field/media.php

I removed readonly and it works

yes I did it of course but the field is readonly , you can't even paste a png or write anything
it can be done in the layout overrides

and the select button dont show any svg in the media folder

hm. seems it was locked recently due possibility of attack.

but still, i can select any other pictures and, before pressing INSERT i can scroll down and write name of svg file in textfield.

its definetly work in clean joomla instalations, i did this on 2 different sites.

it is a clean install version 3.8.2
without overrides it should never work

if you look the core file /layouts/joomla/form/field/media.php line 166 you can see the readonly hard coded without any variable

now look into your overrides
/administrator/templates/isis/html/layouts/joomla/form/field/media.php about line 133
is it readonly ?

CMON!
read by words!

press SELECT buttion near blocked textfield.
then SCROLL DOWN and you will see ANOTHER UNBLOCKED textfield (Image URL).
write path here, press INSERT.

profit.

yes everybody know that !
but you can write directly by overriding that readonly, and joomla should allow svg file
changing media type change nothing ...

i writed before, i guess it was opened but was closed recently.
because i was tried upload svg by media manager and it produced an error about "this file can produce security risk in IE". so seems its kind of exceptions and this didnt works even if you fill all corresponding settings correctly.

uploading is not possible I guess , but even not selecting and that is a pity !
in JCE editore one can select SVG files but not in menu or joomla core extensions

as I said overriding is very easy to get rid of that readonly field

thanks anyway for your time
